Why is it important to Arrange Inspection for Coffee Makers before shipment?
- Identify any issues in product size/specification to save cost and time
- Reduce defects/flaws in the product and maintain a good brand image of the product
- Save on possible rework and product recall costs
- Confirm that the products will not be damaged during packaging and loading
How to Carry out Quality Inspection for the Coffee Makers?
Before conducting inspections, AQI technical engineers need to understand your product characteristics to determine key risks. By combining our Inspection Checklist with your unique product specifications and quality requirements, each inspection can be customized including FULL INSPECTION
We will identify and classify defects based on your Acceptance Quality Limits (AQL), verify the quality of mass production, perform product function and reliability tests on-site, and assess your compliance with product specifications and sizes.
Assess the quality of your product materials and workmanship, using a number of quality control checks and tests, including:
1. Fatigue Test on Adjustable Parts
Conduct a fatigue test on all adjustable components, such as buttons, plugs, and switches, to evaluate their durability and performance over repeated use cycles. This test aims to simulate long-term usage to identify potential wear-out mechanisms and assess the lifespan of these components.
2. Stability Test
Perform a stability test to assess the product’s resistance to tipping or instability under various conditions. This includes evaluating its performance on uneven surfaces or during operation, ensuring compliance with safety standards and minimizing the risk of accidents.
3. Pull Test on Power Cord
Execute a pull test on the power cord to verify the strength of its connections and the integrity of the cable. This test determines whether the cord can withstand mechanical stress without failure, ensuring safe operation during normal use.
4. Earth Continuity Test (if applicable)
Conduct an earth continuity test to verify the effectiveness of earthing connections. This test is essential for ensuring that all metal parts of the appliance are properly grounded, which prevents electrical shock hazards.
5. Hi-Pot Test
Implement a high-potential (Hi-Pot) test to measure the insulation’s ability to withstand high voltage. This test checks for potential breakdowns in insulation materials, ensuring the product’s safety and protecting users from electric shock.
6. Internal Check
Perform a comprehensive internal inspection of all components to ensure compliance with the Component Design Files (CDF). This includes verifying component specifications, assessing quality standards, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
7. Barcode Scanning Test
Execute a barcode scanning test to confirm the readability and accuracy of the printed barcode on the product. This ensures efficient tracking and identification of the product throughout its supply chain.
8. Rub Test for Rating Label
Conduct a rub test to assess the abrasion resistance of the product’s rating label, including the durability of prints, markings, and logos. This test ensures that critical information remains legible over time, even under repeated contact.
9. Power Consumption Test
Measure the product’s power consumption during operation to assess its energy efficiency. This test helps verify that the appliance operates within specified power usage limits and environmental regulations.
10. Check Coffee Temperature in Center of Jug
Measure the internal temperature of coffee at its center in the jug to ensure it meets recommended serving temperatures. This test is crucial for evaluating the product’s effectiveness in maintaining beverage warmth.
11. Abnormal Test
Conduct tests under abnormal operating conditions to identify the product’s failure modes and assess risk factors. This evaluation helps in understanding how the product reacts to unexpected scenarios, such as overloading or misuse.
12. Leakage Current Test (if applicable)
Perform a leakage current test to measure any unintended current flowing through non-current-carrying conductive parts. This assessment is critical for ensuring user safety and identifying potential electrical hazards.
13. Check Abnormal Running Noise or Vibration
Monitor and record any excessive noise or vibration during the product’s normal operation. This test helps detect potential mechanical issues or imbalances that could lead to product failure and ensures a comfortable user experience.
14. Check Steam Function (if applicable)
Evaluate the steam functionality of the product, if applicable, to confirm that it meets design specifications and operates efficiently. This test checks the steam quality and ensures it reaches the required temperature and pressure.
15. Water Removable Tank with Leakage after 1 Hour
Assess the removable water tank for leaks after one hour of holding water. This test ensures that seals and joints maintain their integrity over time, preventing any potential leaks during operation.
16. Time Check
Verify the total time taken for the product to perform heating or brewing functions. This ensures compliance with specifications and assesses the efficiency and performance of the appliance.
17. Carton Drop Test
Conduct a carton drop test based on ISTA standard to evaluate the packaging’s ability to protect the product from impact during shipping and handling. This test simulates real-world shipping conditions and assesses the robustness of the packaging.
18. Ask for Product’s Testing Certificates (if applicable)
Request relevant testing and compliance certificates when applicable to verify that the product meets industry standards and regulations. This documentation is vital for confirming safety and operational integrity.
19. Insulation Resistance Test (if applicable)
Perform an insulation resistance test to measure the resistance of insulating materials within the product. This test is critical for identifying insulation failures that could lead to electrical hazards, ensuring long-term safe operation.
Coffee Machine Safety Standards for Lab Testing
Here are some of the standards and procedures we take into account when creating coffee machine inspection procedures include:
- UL 197 Commercial Electric Coffee Machine Standard
- UL 1082 Household Electric Coffee Machine Standard
- UL 60730-2-9 Temperature Sensing Control Standard
- IEC 60335-2-15 Household Electric Coffee Machine Standard
Coffee Machine Food Protection and Sanitation Standards
- NSF/ANSI 4-2009: Household Electric Coffee Machine Food Protection and Sanitation Standard
Coffee Machine Performance Standards
- The International Electrotechnical Commission IEC 60661 standard is used to evaluate the performance of the different brands and models of the coffee machines. Some of the tests included in this standard are designed to establish coffee quality, energy consumption, coffee temperature and coffee output time of the tested coffee machine.
- The Association for Home Appliance Manufacturers and the American National Standards Institute formulated ANSI/AHAM CM-1-2007 to provide a guideline in comparing and evaluating the performance of the different brands and models of the household coffee machines.
